New Bill on Internet Radio
Posted by: Pax @ 3:38 CET

From Saveinternetradio.org:

Yesterday, Rep. James Sensenbrenner (R-WI), chairman of the House
Judiciary Committee, introduced a bill in the U.S. House of
Representatives (HR 5469) that would help keep Internet radio alive by
postponing an October 20th royalty payment deadline. (Without this bill,
hundreds of webcasters will be bankrupted on October 20th, and thousands
of musicians will thus be deprived of Internet radio exposure.)

It would be extremely helpful if you would CALL your representative in the
U.S. House of Representatives TODAY to express your support for this bill.
It should only take five minutes. We've got easy instructions on how to do
this available at http://www.SaveInternetRadio.org.

We've also got a link that will allow you to send a quick, free fax to
your Congressman as well.

Thanks very much for your help!

Skyclad news
Posted by: Stéphane @ 17:40 CET

SKYCLAD have now entered the studio and are well on their way to having their new CD finished before the end of the year. Release is'nt scheduled until March 2003, but we expect a single (probably "A Good Day To Bury Bad News") to be ready for January. We're unsure if this will be a full release, or available only via the DEMOLITION and SKYCLAD Websites, but don't worry, we'll keep you informed on the outcome. Either way, a full promotion campaign will be backed with a promo video shoot of the track .

No dates are planned by the band until March 2003, but you all know SKYCLAD by now, so an unexpected appearance is always a possibility!!

Bluehorses: Line-Up change
Posted by: Matze @ 9:44 CET

Rob takes a break and Nics nephew Nathan takes over on bass...

We're very sad to announce that after seven years with the band - pretty much from the beginning - that our Rob has decided to take a break from touring. Rob wants to spend more time doing family stuff and developing his not inconsiderable skills in the professional kitchen. We wish him, Julie and Amy all the best and will miss his stonking bass playing, creative input and fab sense of humour very much.

But... Onward and Upward!

Robs little nest, over on stage left, has been occupied by Nic's nephew, Nathan Waulker (wow - he's got a funny name too!). Nathan is based in Herne Bay in Kent and has been playing in bands for 12 years, taking him across Europe to play many festivals, including several in Poland.

Nathan played his first Bluehorses shows at the weekend, in the Brook, Southampton and Ryde Theatre on the Isle of Wight and was immediately a great success with the fans. Despite only having had two rehearsals with the band (and never having even met Mark!) Nathan fitted in seamlessly and we're really looking forward to working with him as we begin developing new projects and music.

Next Katatonia guitar centered?
Posted by: Stéphane @ 21:14 CET

Sweden's KATATONIA are hard at work on material for their sixth full-length album, which is scheduled to be recorded this fall for an early 2003 release through Peaceville Records.

"Our process of writing/pre-producing the new album has started to take off well now," guitarist Anders Nyström stated via the group's official web site. "This nocturnal obedience has left us with about 12 tracks so far, of which some are already complete and some are still being purged and thrown around. We hope to be able to record around 15 songs of which about 10-11 should land on the album."

Anders continued: "As for speculations on what the new album will sound like, we can confirm that the people who guessed it would be HARDER & DARKER were correct, yes that's right! KATATONIA are NOT taking a softer turn, as this is by far the most hard material we've ever written, but make no mistake, it does NOT link to a 'back to the roots' retrospect. Getting into details, I could mention that an overall upbeat pace has been applied to the main songs, we've dropped tuning from D# to C, more arrangements go beyond the repeated verse/chorus chain and even a few double bass drums parts appear!!! As for the synth/electronic part, there's been some strings, piano and mellotron used as well as a few incorporated loops, but its not dominating, what's dominating are the crushing guitars, the real deal drums and the vocal patterns. Stay tuned..."

Firebird: new album
Posted by: Matze @ 11:12 CET

The new album of Bill Steer's Firebird is already recorded at Berno Studios in Malmo, Sweden. The band has done 12 tracks in total, and the titles are as follows:

End Of The Day
Hard Hearted
Tumbling Down
Off The Leash
Dream Ride
Cross The Line
Stoned Believer
Long Gone
I Come Creepin
Mistaken Again

The mix is done as well, but album hasn't mastered yet. More likely that European release will have 10 tracks, Japanese release that is due to be out by the end of the year through JVC will have one bonus track, and the last one maybe will appear exclusively at the website for download.

Ian Astbury, Stewart Copeland Named 'Permanent' Members Of The Doors
Posted by: Matze @ 8:45 CET

THE CULT frontman Ian Astbury and former POLICE drummer Stewart Copeland have "permanently" joined THE DOORS and will record new music with the group during 2003, keyboardist Ray Manzarek told Billboard.com. "Stewart is drumming from here on out. Ian is singing from here on out. We're not doing a TV show. We're playing live music. This is the new DOORS lineup for the 21st century," Manzarek said.

A North American/European tour is also in the works for next year, and while Manzarek says it is too early to predict how extensive the jaunt may be, he promises it "will definitely not be 60 cities." THE DOORS will perform at Molson Park in Barrie, Ontario, just outside of Toronto, on September 29th.

Chris Cornell / RATM Select New Name, Launch Web Site
Posted by: Matze @ 9:16 CET

After months of rumors, it appears that AUDIOSLAVE has been officially selected as the name of the new project featuring ex-SOUNDGARDEN frontman Chris Cornell and former RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE members Tim Commerford (bass), Brad Wilk (drums), and Tom Morello (guitar). A web site residing on the Sonymusic.com servers has been launched at www.audioslavemusic.com, containing four small, blurry photos of the group's members, as well as a form which you can use to sign up for an official online newsletter.

As previously reported, AUDIOSLAVE recently signed a management deal with The Firm (i.e. KORN, LIMP BIZKIT, etc.) and are readying the release of their much-anticipated debut album, which is now not expected to surface before early 2003.

The band once rumored to be called CIVILIAN had originally started work on their debut album early last year and were due to perform at this year's US Ozzfest dates. Shortly after announcing the tour, Cornell left the group, due in part to the differences stemming from the two parties having separate management deals. However, the band recently reunited and was seeking a neutral third party for management of the project. Previously, the RATM members were with Peter Mensch and Cliff Burnstein's management company Q- Prime, while Cornell was managed by Jim Guerinot's Rebel Waltz.
