Michael Kiske news
Posted by: Matze @ 8:49 CET

  • Michael Kiske will not join Gamma Ray. In fact he was asked by Kai Hansen to sing the bridge for a GammaRay song, but had to refuse due to time problems.
  • He got an official offer to join ANGRA (which he refused afaik) and confirmed that he'll sing on Timo Tolkki´s solo-album.
  • Kiske's upcoming album will be released this September.

New section : Band of the Month
Posted by: Stéphane @ 10:10 CET

    Hey there!
I've just built up a new item to penny dreadful webzine :
each month, one of us (maybe you) will send to matze (at matze@pennydreadful.de) a review of an artist you cherish and 6 songs in mp3 (up for only a duration of one month, then deleted) to share with us your musical treasure.

So as i've got the idea, i have to show you with one of my faves.

Go to the underrated bands or artists board and click on band of month topic or just go left on main page and click on the band of month box.

    Delays [updated]
Posted by: Matze @ 7:35 CET

  • Slayer's upcoming album "God hates us all" has been delayed till late august or early september because their label just lost its distribution deal with Columbia/Sony.
  • Due to manufacturing issues, Nightwish's live DVD: "From Wishes To Eternity" will be released on july 9th, two weeks later than expected.

edit Stéphane: Sorry to say that, but the Nightwish DVD is out in France for one week now... heheheh. Very good!

edit Matze: Hmmm... maybe it's just for germany...

    Probot [updated]
Posted by: Matze @ 22:11 CET

Probot is a metal record project by Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters & Nirvana). He wrote and played most of the music and then invited several different singers to do the vocals, including King Diamond, Cronos, and Tom G. Fischer.

We don't have any information about recording status and release date yet, so if you know more, let us know! :)

edit Matze: Here's some more info I've discovered over at the Cathedral Coven:

  • Voivod's drummer Away will do the album's artwork
  • Also appearing on the album are: Snake (Voivod), Mike Dean of COC, Lee Dorrian, Wino (The Obsessed, Spirit), Kim Thayil (Soundgarden), Max Cavalera, Lemmy, Tom Araya, Phil Anselmo and Trouble's Eric Wagner.
